It's a shiner!

Today they learned about stage makeup at theater camp. Finn volunteered his left eye to be made up. I was relieved to learn it was only makeup when I picked him up. They're having a blast learning their lines, dance routines, and songs for this Friday's big performance for friends and families.

A bit overscheduled

We've done anything but slow down since school ended. We haven't completely stopped school type activities though. Chance has completed over 16 hours of his summer library reading program and they're both working through a few workbooks over our short summer break.
With both kids in baseball we're guaranteed at least 4 days of games and practices for this one activity. Here they are in their baseball outfits. This is Chance's fifth year playing ball through the park district. He likes to pitch and play first base.

This is Finn's first try at playing baseball. Everyone is learning to catch, throw, and hit so it's a perfect fit for him.

They are both currently attending a theater camp for the next two weeks at NIU. By the 10th day they will be having a stage production complete with singing and dancing. They love learning about all the behind the scene activites involved with putting on a show. Yesterday they learned a little bit about stage combat which they both thought was really cool.

Chance advanced to green belt in taekwondo on June 1st. Here is a short 20 second video clip of him breaking boards. He had to break three boards with one front snap kick. He surprised himself that he was able to break all three on his first attempt.
