History up close

We headed to the East coast to see some history. We ventured to Boston by way of Washington D.C. We only had a few hours but the kids were able to touch the Washington monument, see the WWII and the Vietnam War memorials and the Lincoln memorial.

Boston was fabulous. They have a great public transportation system and tons to see. We purchased a 5 day pass and it paid for itself in the first day. We took a tall ship cruise and a whale watch cruise. We went on a "duck" tour and a trolley tour. We went on boat rides to see the harbor and the Charles River.

We traveled along the freedom trail on a guided tour. We were able to visit the Science Museum, the Children's museum and the Aquarium.
They have tons of great parks. Here is Finn at the "frog pond".

The kids already asked to come back next year.

California Dreaming

The kids had a great time with Dad in California last week. Here's Chance after one of his surfing lessons.

The surf school didn't work out so well but it was neat to have him try something he's only seen in the movies.

They hung out at the beach everyday but Wednesday. That day they headed to Disneyland and the Disney Adventure Park with their cousin and Uncle.

They are a couple of kids on the go as we leave for Washington D.C. and Boston tomorrow for another week away from home. They're really enjoying the not so strict schedule of home schooling.
